Government Response to NIC Study

The government has now responded to the National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC’s) study into reviewing the risk of surface water flooding.

The NIC’s study for England reviewed the current approaches to managing surface water flooding.  This included how to better identify places at risk of surface water flooding, roles of different organisations, planning and new infrastructure, as well as interventions ranging from traditional infrastructure to nature-based solutions. The study included 9 recommendations.

The Government’s formal response to the study has accepted 4 of the recommendations and partially accepted a fifth.
