Do You Have A View On Updating The Non-Statutory Technical Standards For SuDS?

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has commissioned research to explore whether updating the English Non-statutory technical standards for SuDS (NSTS) could help deliver SuDS that provide multiple benefits beyond managing surface water runoff, contributing to improved climate adaptation, health and wellbeing and better places and spaces.

A key part of this work is to obtain feedback on draft updated standards, to understand whether together with associated clarification statements the standards are clear, deliverable and can be easily assessed.

The survey which will include the draft standards should be completed by those working in England with an interest in SuDS delivery, particularly those who approve, design and commission SuDS for new developments. The survey can be found here A PDF version of the survey can be found here

Survey responses will be used to inform the update of the Non-statutory technical standards for SuDS and England’s future approach to SuDS delivery. The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete.

The closing date for the survey is 16 November (18:00). For further information on the survey please contact paul.shaffer@ciria.org.
