SUMMARY:Opening Lecture - 14th Brunel International Lecture
DESCRIPTION:ICE\, together with the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI)\, invite you to the opening lecture of our 14th Brunel International Lecture series. Building on previous series\, resilience and sustainability in infrastructure development will remain the main theme of the 2022-24 programme. \nThe individual lectures will focus on: \n\nChallenges\nOpportunities\nEngineering solutions and;\nBest practice examples specific to each region.\n\nThe opening lecture in London will provide a global perspective\, with a special focus on resilient cities\, and the importance of climate equity and support for cities in emerging economies. \nThe wider series will shine a spotlight on equitable\, sustainable\, and resilient infrastructure challenges around the world and showcase what engineers globally are doing to help address that challenge. \nMitigation and adaptation efforts are both necessary for tackling climate change impacts\, however the latter is often overshadowed by the former. It is important to tackle climate change impacts that are felt now\, whilst preparing for the future with resilient infrastructure. \nThe lectures will provide a platform for dialogue with high-profile leaders across the globe\, while focusing on practical engineering issues in tackling climate change at the local level. \nThe opening lecture will feature a keynote address (speaker to be announced soon)\, and an interactive panel discussion moderated by ICE President Ed McCann.
